Sound Track/Music

The soundtrack and background score is composed by Harris Jayaraj, working with Shankar for the second time after Anniyan (2005), while scoring for a Vijay-starrer for the first time. The soundtrack, consisting of six original songs, was released on 23 December 2011, at Hindusthan College of Arts and Science in Coimbatore, before Jayaraj's concert, Harris: On The Edge, commenced at the same venue. Lyrics were provided by Pa. Vijay, Viveka, Na. Muthukumar and Madhan Karky, the latter two penning lyrics for two songs each. Notably, Karky's lyrics in "Asku Laska" include more than 16 different languages.

Kaavalan (In Tamil: காவலன்; In English: Bodyguard) is a2011 Tamil romantic comedy film written and directed by Siddique. Starring Vijay and Asin Thottumkal in lead roles, the film is the remake of the director's own previous Malayalam super hit film Bodyguard. The film features Rajkiran, Roja, Mithra Kurian and Vadivelu in supporting roles with a musical score composed by Vidyasagar. The film's principal shoot commenced in April 2010 and was completed by November 2010. Following several hurdles, Kaavalan released on 15 January 2011 with relatively positive reviews.

Boominathan (Vijay) idolises Muthuramalingam (Rajkiran) and at the request of his parents, accepts to work for the latter as his bodyguard. There enters Muthuramalingam's rival, who has lost his daughter since she committed suicide, the reason being rejection by Muthuramalingam's son. While Boominathan protects Muthuramalingam, his rival threatens the life of his daughter Meera (Asin). Boominathan is sent to college along with Meera and Madhu to protect them from the threat. Meera tries to distance herself from Boominathan by calling him froma private number; Boominathan falls in love with the girl without knowing that it is Meera herself. At one point, Meera too feels herself becoming attracted to Boominathan and expresses her desire to meet him in person. What happens then forms the crux of the film.

Sivagiri (Joseph Vijay) is a blacksmith in a remote village near Thirupaachi. He has a lovable sister named Karpagam (Mallika). He runs into some hilarious incidents while searching locally for a groom for his sister. Sivagiri confides to his friend Kannapan that he wants his sister to be in a good city after her marriage. Sivagiri also nods his acceptance, when a city guy proposes to Karpagam. He accompanies the newly weds to Chennai. He finds a girl named Shuba (Trisha Krishnan) welcoming them, and they both fall in love.

On a trip to Chennai, Sivaguru rescues a court witness from Pattasu Balu (Pasupathy), a don dominating central Chennai. He also learns of a local don Panparag Ravi, who controls North Chennai, and who is troubling Karpagam's husband's canteen business. In an altercation in a cinema theater, Kannappan gets murdered by a thug named Saniyan Sagada (Kota Srinivasa Rao), who dominates South Chennai.

Meanwhile, Karpagam becomes pregnant and Sivagiri takes her to his home town. Then, after the funeral of Kannapan,he leaves his home town stating that he got a job in a cloth manufacturing company. But in reality he comes with a mission in Chennai.

Sivagiri writes a complaint letter to a local police inspector stating that prostitution is prevailing in his area. This provokes Saniyan Sagadai henchmen group and thus they come 20 in number to murder Sivagiri. The latter decides to apply some different colors of turmeric sandal powder in face to hide his identity and then kills all twenty of them including an inspector who fails to do justice to his duty. He also seizes a cellphone from one of the henchmen. Then,he warns Saniyan Sagadai stating that the latter too will be killed by him. He also calls the commissioner and warns him that he will kill all the thugs of Chennai as the police department fails in their duty. Later on, Sivagiri's friend Veluchamy who is also an inspector, comes to know about this. Sivagiri challenges Veluchamy that he will give up his mission if the latter keeps any one thug of Chennai in jail at least for a single day. Veluchamy not only fails in his mission but also loses his son as he was killed by Pattasu Balu, the head of the thug who got arrested.

This harsh lesson makes Veluchamy to help Sivagivi. Thus, Veluchamy lists Sivagiri the entire mafia network of Chennai by providing the specification of who leads the various areas. Sivagiri in his mission decides first to kill Pattasu Balu. Thus,he phones and warns Balu. This provokes Balu to abduct the commissioner's daughter and Balu warns the commissioner that his daughter will be killed if the he doesn't arrest Sivagiri.

Sivagiri, after knowing this fact from his inspector-friend Veluchamy, calls Pattasu Balu and warns him by stating a fake point that one of Balu's henchmen has been abducted by him. Fortunately for Sivagiri, one of the henchmen of Balu was missing in his place. Thus Balu decides to send his mafia gang to Sivagiri's place whose address has been found by Balu with the help of the phone number from which Sivagiri called him. Sivagiri disguises himself as an wounded person and says to the mafia gang of Pattusu Balu that he remembers the person who bet him so hard.This makes Pattasu Balu to bring Sivagiri to his fort. Later on,Sivagiri destroys Pattasu balu and his gang. The fight scene plagarizes burly brawl from the matrix reloaded.

Then, one day, Shuba meets Sivagiri in a temple and finds that he is not working in any cloth manufacturing compnay. But still, Sivagiri manages to make Shuba believe that he is working in a travels company. Thus, Shuba gets a promise from Sivagiri that he should meet her and spend time with her quite frequently.

Later on, Sivagiri provokes Panparak Ravi to kill his own brother by sticking the funeral posters of Ravi and making him think that his brother is the person who is killing people all over Chennai. After the death of Ravi's brother, Ravi hides himself in a politician's house to be away and safe from the hands of police. That politician damages his own car and house by his henchmen and makes the police to believe that someone has attacked his house. Thus, the police decide to provide security for the politician. This makes Ravi feel happy, considering that Sivagiri can't come to his place by fooling all these inspectors and kill him. Then, Sivagiri's friend inspector Veluchamy finds diplomatically that Ravi is hiding in the politician's place. Later on, Sivagiri states to a group of people, who lost their money to a financier, that the fraud financier is hiding in the politician's place. This makes Sivagiri enter Ravi's fort with a mass gang and later on Ravi gets killed by Sivagiri successfully.

Then, after some time, Sivagiri meets Shuba as per his promise and woos and romances her on a beach.

Later on, Sivagiri decides to kill Saniyan Sagadai and successfully complete his mission. Thus, Sivagiri warns Sagadai in an indirect manner and also states that if Sagadai doesn't give up then he will be murdered him before the birth of the next new year. This makes Sagadai to seek the protection of a mass group of thugs from Chennai. Sivagiri uses this as a chance to destroy the entire mafia gang of Chennai. Thus, Sivagiri ignites a war between the police group and mafia gang in a very diplomatic manner. Sivagiri disguises himself as a police inspector and enters the fort of Sagadai. Veluchamy too helps Sivagiri in his mission. Finally Sivagiri destroys the entire mafia gang of Chennai along with the Chennai police inspectors before the birth of a new year. Then, Sivagiri surrenders in police and later on he gets released after 6 months. Shuba welcomes Sivagiri, his sister and his sister's husband once again after returning home. At the end, Shuba romances with Sivagiri.

The film ran for over 235 days and was declared a super hit. The film ran for 100 days in Kerala.

Madhurey

Madhuravel (Vijay) in the first half is Madurai, a vegetable vendor along with his friend Pandu (Vadivelu). Madurai is a do-gooder and protector of the family of Seetha and her two daughters. He eradicates loan sharks and fights "bad guys" in the market. The usual hero worship is shown and only a clue of a policeman saluting the vendor gives you an inkling of what is to come. Now Seetha’s eldest daughter Sonia Agarwal who was working with Vijay was killed and her mother blames it on Vijay and shoots him down. It’s turn of the film to shift to Swamy track. Vadivelu now opens the story of Vijay actually being the district collector of Madurai. He is the action packed bureaucrat who takes to the streets to solve the problems of the citizens. He does the job of policing too and is up against criminals. He does not believe in IPS and police force to clean up the city. So one such clean up operation takes him to KTR (Pasupathy) who is running a parallel law enforcement system with his own court. He doles out justice to all and his God to the ordinary. Now Madhuravel does not take lightly to this parallel outfit. A clash takes place and Sonia Agarwal, then PA to the Collector, gets killed. KTR puts the blame on the Collector. Now the IAS officer goes underground to surface as vegetable vendor because his aim is to pin down the KTR and his outfit. From now onwards it is Madhuravel on a rampage till KTR is finished and the murder charge removed.

Ghilli is the nickname for the popular state level kabbadi player Velu (Joseph Vijay). His father Sivasubramanian (Ashish Vidyarthi), an assistant police commissioner, is a martinet, who finds his son (who still has his arrears to clear before he gets his degree) incorrigible. His mother (Janaki Sabesh), on the other hand, dotes on him. His younger sister Bhuvana (`Baby' Jennifer) is the typical sharp and inquisitive schoolgirl. Velu goes to Madurai for a kabbadi match, but circumstances force him to lend a helping hand to Dhanalakshmi (Trisha) who is fleeing from the cantankerous Muthupandi (Prakash Raj), a State Minister's son, madly in love with her. From then on, it is a hectic run for the two with Muthupandi and his henchmen, who seem to be teeming all over the place, close on their heels.

Velu hides Danalakshmi in his house and manages to get her a Passport and Visa for America. But Dhanalakshmi is not willing to go to America as she had fallen in love with Velu. Velu and his friends cross many hurdles to get Dhanalaksmi to the Airport in time for the flight before their final league Kabbadi Match, only to find her back in the stadium while the match is going on. Before she came, Velu had missed her and that caused him to have a lot of trouble playing. But after seeing Dhanalakshmi, Velu plays well and wins the game. The movie ends in a gripping climax with a fight until death between Velu and Muthupandi.

The film ran for over 320 days and grossed above 30 crores worldwide and collected a distributor share of Rs 18 crores in india .^[2]^[3] The film ran for 150 days in Kerala and was declared a blockbuster hit.^[4]^[5] The overseas market was estimated at Rs 3 to 3.5 crores.^[6]

Udhayakumar (Vijay) and Vasanthi (Simran) are collegemates and they fall in love. But soon he comes to know that she is engaged to be married. After he moves to Chennai and finds a job as a reporter at a magazine. He tries to fight for social change. In the process , he unknowingly gets to know a group of unsavoury characters who promise to help him in his goals. They frame him up. One day Udhaya is arrested for a crime involving a terrorist plot which he is not responsible. The movie is about how Vasanthi fights to prove his innocence and to get him out from behind bars.

Bhagavathi (Joseph Vijay), owns a tea shop cum hotel near Chennai High court lives with the aim of bringing up his younger brother Guna (Jai) as a doctor. He also befriends a modern girl Anjali (Reema Sen) who is a daughter of a Judge. Guna has a girl friend Priya with whom he accidentally develops a physical relationship. Guna's love is objected by the Priya's father. Bhagavathi to fulfill his brother's wish tries to convince the Priya's father. But in vain. Guna attempts to marry Priya even without the knowledge of his brother. But Priya's father collapses the marriage and Guna is killed in front of Bhagavathi. Guna on his last moments promises that he would be with his brother forever. After Guna's death, everyone comes to know Priya is pregnant due to the accidental relationship with Guna earlier. Bhagavathi reminds of his brother's last words and thinks his brother is going to be born again. Meanwhile, to protect the social status, Priya's father attempts to kill the child before it is being born. Bhagavathi turns to a don to save his brother's child. Overcoming all the hurdles put by Priya's father, Bhagavathi manages to protect Priya for safe birth of his brother's child with the help of Anjali,her mother and his tea shop helper Vadivelu (Vadivelu).

On his wedding day, Shiva (Vijay) discovers that his cousin and bride, Aruna, has run away because she does not want to marry a cook. But he takes it lightly and moves to Chennai with the girl's brother (Shyam Ganesh) to look for a job. One night, he saves Sandya from some goons. In gratitude, she kisses him. Shiva starts to fall in love with Sandya. After several occasions where they bumped into each other, Shiva harbours hope that she too reciprocates his affections.

However at Sandya's birthday party, she announces her engagement to computer engineer, Pratap (Yugendran). Shiva is devastated at the news and leaves the room quietly. Sandya finds him standing alone at the swimming pool. She asks him about his impression of Pratap and is shocked when Shiva reveals to her that he loves her. Sandya declares that she only feels friendship towards him and tells him to stop loving her.

After receiving a telephone call, Shiva goes to the police station and finds Aruna. She had eloped to be with her lover. However, he later abandoned her and left her penniless. With no one to turn to, Aruna attempted suicide. Shiva takes her back home to take care of her. Aruna's brother was still angry and calls up their parents. Shiva speaks up for Aruna and gets the family to forgive her. Before returning to the village, Aruna meets Pratap and discovers that Sandya's fiance is actually the lover who abandoned her.

On the eve of Sandya's wedding, she finally understands that she loves Shiva and tells her father (Manivannan) that she does not want to marry Pratap. Her father refuses to cancel the wedding and gives Shiva a cheque for 10 million to get the latter to leave Sandya. Sandya runs away on her wedding day to look for Shiva and confesses to him that she loves him too. She wants to elope with Shiva but he brings her back to the wedding venue.

Before the ceremony starts, he calls Pratap into a room and closes the door. When the door reopens, Shiva and Pratap had changed clothes. Shiva is now in the groom's attire while Pratap is in ordinary clothes. Shiva marries Sandya in the end. On their wedding night, Shiva reveals to Sandya what happened between Pratap and him in the room.

But Aravindan has lost his memory, he can't move or anything cannot be done by him. The cousin of him is now torturing his family a lot. When he comes to know that Chandru has comeback, he goes and starts to beat him up. After hearing his beloved friend Chandru's cry of pain, Aravindan gets his memory back. One day, when both were sitting together, Jeni's sari gets misplaced and Siva sees her navel. She notices this and argues with him. During this talk, they reveal some matters in their mind. Siva asks her about why she asked who was on the phone and Jeni asks him why he lied about the car.

But the need to unite their friends, whose union is being opposed by the girl's father, forces them to work together. Meanwhile Siva meets Jeni's father and takes him to the hostel without knowing that it was her father. He tells him about a girl who is filled with ego. Siva is surprised to see that he is Jeni's father. The father wants his daughter to accept a marriage proposal. She refuses it. Siva tells her that this refusal is due to her love for someone. Jeni denies that to win over Siva and tells her father that she is ready for the marriage. Finally when they start leaving, they understand the love they have for each other. In the end, they reunite and the scene closes with a lip-to-lip kiss. The story proves that an ego clash between lovers can lead to many problems.

After she recovers, Vijay tries to enter the picture, using the confusion in the name and makes use of the soft-corner for her donor. Vijay claims as her donor and they both develop their romance, using this as a starting point. After their romance matures, her father comes into picture and as he had already seen her donor, he recognizes that Vijay is cheating her. The argument between Vijay and her father, Jay Ganesh, goes out of control and accidentally Vijay kills him by pushing him from the top of a building. In the meanwhile, his friend starts to like Kausalya and threatens to expose Vijay's lie to redirect her love towards him. This makes Vijay angry and in another hot argument, Vijay kills his friend.

Realising that the lovers' existence is in danger, Kesavan (Charlie) suggests that they find refuge in his father's (Manivannan's) fishermen hamlet and the couple elope followed by the brothers. Manivannan refuses to give them away and the brothers swear bloodshed. A registrar wedding is quickly arranged and on the eve of the wedding, the lovers learn of the unlimited love, affection and care their respective family members have for them and decide not to hurt their sentiments. They agree to part company. The fisherfolk leader is shocked first at their decision, and later understands their feelings and sends them back safely, an appreciable twist in the movie. Jeeva and Mini go back to their respective homes to the excitement and relief of their families. However, their mothers realize how heartbroken the couple are without each other and reunite them.

The film was the second blockbuster of Vijay grossing almost $2 million at the box office.

The story starts off with Raghuvaran, a passport issuing officer and his wife Shanthi Krishna. Raghu tells Shanthi Krishna that he cheated on her with a co-worker when he was in Goa. She immediately leaves for her mother's house. Raghu tries to stop her by apologizing, but in vain. Raghu's brother Vijay and Shanthi's brother Surya meet in a cinema theatre. Vijay blames Shanthi to be the cause of the problem and Surya blames Raghu for the same. They keep on fighting throughout the movie. One day Raghu finds a bundle of cash on his table and meets the person (Karan) who kept the money there. Raghu finds out that Karan is an MLA, wanted by the police. Karan wants to leave the country to escape from the police and he needs a fake passport, since his passport is confiscated by the police; He tells Raghu to get one for him, but Raghu being a sincere officer disagrees and calls the police instead. The MLA gets angry and promises to avenge Raghu. Meanwhile, Raghu and Shanthi Krishna apply for a divorce. Child custody of their daughter Sona (Baby Jennifer), who was in her periamma's (Shanthi's sister's) house when the break up occurred, is given to the mother by the court.

One day Surya takes Sona to a fair and somehow loses her. In the confusion that follows, Sona falls from a Ferris-wheel and is taken to the hospital by Vijay. She is brought to Raghu's house, once she recovers. Soon Vijay discovers that Sona has lost her hearing in the accident.

Some days later Surya finds that Sona is missing... Raghu tells everyone that Sona is in his sister's house. Since Sona's custody is given to the mother, this action of Raghu's is wrong in the eyes of law. So Shanthi and Surya accompanied by a lawyer come to Raghu's house to get Sona back. At that time, Raghu suffers a serious asthma attack, while in the bathroom, and everyone saves him. After recovering Raghu tells that Sona is not in his sister's house, but has been kidnapped by Karan who is out on bail.

In the turn of events, Raghu issues a fake passport to Karan... But he doesn't want Karan to escape from the police. And the two heroes who join hands for the first time in this movie, make sure that this doesn't happen... They save Sona who is with the MLA's wife and brother-in-law in a van, which is roaming around somewhere in the city; Finally the police arrest the MLA.

Vijay (Joseph Vijay) is a rich young business man, whose only one aim in life is to have fun, is the managing director of a big tea estate in Ooty and his company goes on a big loss because of his mismanagement. Synopsis

Shiva (Ilayathalapathy Vijay) is a college student who never backs down if he sees anything unjust happening. He and his gang of friends are enjoying their college life. Sneha (Swapna Bedi) has a huge crush on him and follows him with a camera.

He initially tries to push her away from his life. Unable to bear her advances, one day he asks her to strip her clothes off to prove her love for him. He does this to make her go away. However, Sneha tearfully removes her clothes to prove her love towards him. Shiva realizes her true love and both of them get together.

Madhan, his collegemate is a rogue and is a son of a rich politician. He involves in a lot of illegal activities and crosses Shiva in several days. Shiva's close friend had fallen in love with a rich girl. Both of them want to marry, but the girl's father is not willing to agree for their marriage. Shiva goes to the girls house, takes her to the registrar office and gets her married to his friend.

However, Madhan ends up raping the girl with his rogue friends. Shiva tries to get justice legally, bu realizes that it is not possible. Now Shiva must get justice in his own way.

Synopsis

Nagesh and Nambiar have been college day best friends and so are their children Jaiganesh and Vasudevan. Jaiganesh's family members are Christians while Malaysia Vasudevan's are Hindu. Jaiganesh's son is Lawrence and Malaysia Vasudevan's daughter is Anju Aravind. Robert, brother of Jaiganesh, and Janaki, sister of Malaysia Vasudevan, fell in love with each other. Against their families will, they marry each other and run away from their homes. Ever since then, both families hate each other and Raja (Vijay) wants to solve the problem. So he comes to the village along with his friend Charlie. Raja and Charlie find accommodation in the house of a loud, frightful Velingiri. Later, both of his aunts appear before him with marriage proposal, but in order to avoid it, he says he is married to a Hindu-Christian like himself. Here comes Sangeetha, who pretends to be his wife. However, when he gives her the duty of a wife, she reveals that she is the real child and only daughter of Robert and Janaki and asks Raja why he is acting as the grandson of Nagesh and Nambiar. Next to his rented house, which he shares with Charlie, there is a ladies hostel which features Anju Aravind. As she and her group were trying to find a good tune to a song for a contest, Raja indirectly helps her and falls in love while she treats him as a good friend. As he was about to notify Anju Aravind, of his love for her, she notifies Raja of her love for Lawrence. Hearing their plan to marry without their parents consent because of the Robert-Janaki problem, Raja decides to pose as the son of the ran away couple. Now, both Raja and Sangeetha carry out this mission and when he is seen helping out the lovers in their ways of marrying, Anju Aravind's father gets notified of this and so the news as fire, gets spread quickly and both families now think they have run away and want to kill the members of the other. Meanwhile, Raja has rejoined the friendship of the aunts and the grandparents so the uncles and the lovers is his main concern. He does this at once in style. After the marriage, the truth of Raja's appearance is revealed, and when he is asked to marry Sangeetha, he replies a "no" because he only loves Anju Aravind and he can't forget her.

Vishnu wants to explore the world in spite of his over protective father. He leaves home with a beautiful girl Sanghavi who takes him through a journey to her native and she lift and carry him in her hips throughout the journey and also helps getting a job at an estate, claiming that he is an orphan. The owner of the estate adopts Vishnu as his son. Vishnu falls in love with Vaishnavi.
