Khushi

The story opens in Calcutta where a boy, Shiva (Vijay), is born to a wealthy couple, a Tamilian father and a Bengali mother. The camera shifts to a village in Tamil Nadu, where a girl, Jennifer (Jyothika), is born in a middle-class Christian family. After some encounters when they are too young to be aware of each other, they meet in Madras Christian College. They then meet in a temple and see each other.
Siva brings a letter to Jeni which she thinks is a love letter from him. She quarrels with him. Then she realises that it is the one that was given by Siva's friend to Jeni's friend. To help these lovers, they becomes close; they show it only as friendship. One day, Jeni hears Shiva speaking sweetly to someone named Geetha. Jeni became upset and asks Shiva who it was. It was his mother. Another day, they travel together in Siva's car. Siva tells Jeni that the car broke down. They get out and walk. Siva asks him about her views about love and her favourites. When Jeni enters her hostel, she notices that Siva drives the car into his hostel. Though having feelings for each other, their egos prevent them from expressing these feelings. One day, when both were sitting together, Jeni's sari gets misplaced and Siva sees her navel. She notices this and argues with him. During this talk, they reveal some matters in their mind. Siva asks her about why she asked who was on the phone and Jeni asks him why he lied about the car.
But the need to unite their friends, whose union is being opposed by the girl's father, forces them to work together. Meanwhile Siva meets Jeni's father and takes him to the hostel without knowing that it was her father. He tells him about a girl who is filled with ego. Siva is surprised to see that he is Jeni's father. The father wants his daughter to accept a marriage proposal. She refuses it. Siva tells her that this refusal is due to her love for someone. Jeni denies that to win over Siva and tells her father that she is ready for the marriage. Finally when they start leaving, they understand the love they have for each other. In the end, they reunite and the scene closes with a lip-to-lip kiss. The story proves that an ego clash between lovers can lead to many problems.
